Is Subnautica 2 multiplayer?
Yes, optionally. Unknown Worlds describes the game as playable alone or with up to three friends in online co-op, so four people to a session. It is the first Subnautica with official multiplayer, and solo play is supported in full, so co-op is a choice rather than a requirement.
Is Subnautica 2 cross-platform?
Yes. The Steam listing states cross-platform multiplayer, and the Early Access 1.2 update, Buddy System, added cross-platform proximity voice chat on top of it. In practice that means PC and Xbox players share sessions; there is no PlayStation build to connect to yet.
Is Subnautica 2 on PS5?
Not during Early Access. Unknown Worlds launched on Steam, the Epic Games Store and Xbox, and has announced no PlayStation version and no date for one. Treat every PS5 release date you see as a guess until the studio publishes one itself.
When did Subnautica 2 come out?
Subnautica 2 entered Early Access on 14 May 2026, at 08:00 PDT / 15:00 UTC. That is a playable release rather than a finished one: the game is in Early Access today, and the 1.0 version has no announced date.
When does Subnautica 2 leave Early Access?
No date has been given. On the Steam page Unknown Worlds says that, judging by the Early Access games it has shipped before, it expects about two to three years. Counting from May 2026 that points at 2028 or 2029, but the studio has committed to nothing.
How much does Subnautica 2 cost?
It launched at $29.99 USD, priced regionally elsewhere, and one purchase covers every Early Access update through the 1.0 launch and beyond. Unknown Worlds has confirmed the price rises when Early Access ends, without saying by how much or on what date.
Does Subnautica 2 have PvP?
None has been announced. Everything the studio has described is cooperative: up to four people surviving the same ocean, sharing a base and a session. The published Early Access roadmap adds world, biomes, creatures, resources, tools and vehicles, but no competitive mode.
