GTA 5 collectibles: how to use this hub to find them
Collectible hunting in Grand Theft Auto V comes down to four large sets of fifty items each: Spaceship Parts, Letter Scraps, Stunt Jumps and Under the Bridge flights, plus two smaller sets, fifteen Knife Flights and thirty Nuclear Waste barrels. The game tracks all of them towards completion but shows none of them on the in-game map, which is the entire reason external maps exist. This page explains how to work through them and how the map, the checklist and the object pages on this hub fit together.
What the game tracks, and what it hides
The completion checklist inside the game counts the collectible sets, but the in-game map marks almost none of the individual items. You get a number that goes up and no indication of where the remaining items are. For the scattered sets that means combing a very large map by eye.
The sets differ in how they behave:
- Spaceship Parts and Letter Scraps are static pickups. Each one sits in a fixed place and disappears once collected. These are the sets a map helps with most.
- Stunt Jumps and Under the Bridge are actions rather than objects. The location matters, but so does approach speed, angle and vehicle choice. A coordinate alone is not enough.
- Knife Flights and Nuclear Waste are smaller sets with their own conditions attached, including which character you are playing and what equipment you have.
A map that treats all six the same is not much use. That is why object pages on this hub carry the conditions alongside the position.
How to run a collectible sweep efficiently
The mistake most players make is hunting one item at a time from a video. A route beats a lookup:
- Pick one set and finish it. Mixing sets means re-crossing the same ground repeatedly.
- Filter the map to that category only. A screen showing every marker type hides the twelve you actually want.
- Work in geographic clusters, not list order. The numbering of a collectible set has nothing to do with where the items are.
- Match the vehicle to the set. Coastal and underwater pickups want a boat or a submersible; scattered inland ones want a helicopter for the travel and something small for the last hundred metres.
- Tick items off as you go. The counter in the game tells you how many are left but not which ones, so an external checklist is the only way to resume a half-finished sweep.
The checklist on this hub is stored in your own browser. There is no account and no sync, so it survives a page reload but not a change of device.
How the pieces of this hub fit together
Three surfaces, each doing one job:
- The interactive map is where you plan a route. Categories switch on and off, the checklist counters sit next to each category, and every marker links to its own page.
- The object pages are where a single item gets explained: where it is, how to get to it and what conditions apply. Each page has a button that opens the map centred on that marker, and a block of the nearest other markers so a detour is one click away.
- The object database index lists those pages by type, which is the fastest way in when you know what kind of thing you are looking for but not which one.
The links below go to each of them.
The state of the marker data on this hub
This hub is where the platform's engine is being proven before the release it was built for, so the marker set currently loaded is demo placeholder data. The positions were generated, they do not describe real in-game locations, and every affected marker and object page says so in its own description.
What that means in practice: the map, the filters, the checklist counters, the object pages and the nearby-marker blocks all work and are worth trying. The coordinates are not worth following into the game yet.
Real surveyed data replaces the placeholders category by category as contributors file it, starting with the sets that get searched for most. When a category has been surveyed, its placeholder label disappears with it.
Perguntas frequentes
- How many collectibles are there in GTA 5 story mode?
- The main sets are 50 Spaceship Parts, 50 Letter Scraps, 50 Stunt Jumps and 50 Under the Bridge flights, plus 15 Knife Flights and 30 Nuclear Waste barrels, all counted towards completion.
- Does GTA 5 show collectibles on the in-game map?
- No. The game counts them towards completion but does not mark the individual items, which is why players use external maps and checklists to finish the sets.
- Are the marker positions on this hub accurate?
- Not yet. The current dataset is generated demo placeholder data used to prove the engine, and every placeholder marker is labelled as such. Surveyed data replaces it category by category.
- Is my checklist progress saved if I close the browser?
- Yes, in that browser. Progress is written to local storage on your device, with no account involved, so it survives a reload but does not follow you to another device.
