Subnautica 2 resources: where silver, lithium and gold actually are

Aktualisiert 2026-09-05

Silver in Subnautica 2 is thickest in the Plateaus, a 23 to 119 m shelf about 370 m north of the Lifepod, where the cave mouths hold hundreds of nodes. Necrolei Hills and Dolerite Spires carry it shallower, and Root Canyon and the Power Plant hold the deep reserves. Every material has an address like that, and the addresses below were read against the Early Access 1.2 build in September 2026. Spawns do move between updates, so check the date on any list before you plan a long run: update 1.1 added silver to the Coral Gardens outright, in a routine July patch, with no announcement.

Where to find every material

Ores first, listed by the biome that gives you the most of each. The depth range is the biome's, and the note in brackets is what you need to get in.

  • Titanium. The Plateaus, 23 to 119 m, by a wide margin: over twelve hundred loose pieces. Every shallow biome has some and metal salvage converts into it, so this is the one material you never plan a trip for.
  • Copper. The Shallows, 0 to 224 m, no gear needed. The Raceways, the Graveyard and Overgrown Ruins all carry it too.
  • Quartz. The Shallows for loose pieces, the Plateaus for breakable nodes. Spider Dome, about 235 m west-southwest of the Lifepod, is the quick run.
  • Silver. The Plateaus, in the caves roughly 200 m north of the Lifepod. Necrolei Hills and Dolerite Spires hold it shallower; Root Canyon and the Power Plant hold it deep.
  • Lead. The Lead Zone, 34 to 65 m (Rebreather), and effectively nowhere else in quantity. Overgrown Ruins has a scattering.
  • Lithium. The Graveyard (Mk. 1), in deposits rather than loose pieces. The nearest source is the Great Jaw at Tufa Towers, about 300 m south at 50 to 90 m, with a dozen deposits inside its mouth. Touching the pink tendons springs the trap.
  • Gold. The Graveyard again, richest by far, with more in Root Canyon.
  • Sulfur. The Graveyard for volume, North Raceway if you want some before the depth module.
  • Salt. South Raceway, 0 to 85 m (Rebreather), with the Graveyard as backup.
  • Atacamite. The Power Plant (Mk. 2), plus deposits in Root Canyon and the Metal Farms.
  • Celestine. Root Canyon has the most; the Axum Observatory has enough and opens a tier earlier.
  • Troilite. Root Canyon, and nowhere else.

Large deposits, as opposed to loose pieces and breakable nodes, need the Sonic Resonator. Lithium is the material that teaches most players this.

The gates, in the order you clear them

What a material costs you is set by depth, not by distance. Four steps open the whole September build.

  1. Nothing. Shallows, Plateaus, both Raceways, Necrolei Hills, Dolerite Spires. Copper, quartz, titanium, silver and the first lithium.
  2. Rebreather. The Lead Zone caves at 34 to 65 m, and comfortable working time in the Plateaus. Lead is the whole reason to bother.
  3. Mk. 1 depth module, good to roughly 340 m. The Graveyard opens, and with it gold, lithium and sulfur in quantity, plus the Axum Observatory and its celestine.
  4. Mk. 2 depth module. Root Canyon at 364 to 750 m and the Power Plant: troilite, atacamite and the deep celestine.

Add the Sonic Resonator for deposits and the Tadpole for anything past about a kilometre east, and no material in the current build is out of reach.

One habit saves more time than any route. Check the depth band before the compass bearing: a node 400 m down and 200 m away is a longer trip than one at 60 m and 800 m away, and the second costs you nothing but swimming.

What the updates moved

Two content releases have touched materials since Early Access opened on 14 May 2026, and both did it inside a routine patch.

Early Access 1.1, "Adaptive Measures" (8 July 2026) added silver spawns to the Coral Gardens, adjusted copper, quartz crystal, sulfur and troilite placement, put another Biolab in the Coral Gardens and one in the Axum Ruins, and raised the Biomod ceiling from four to six.

Early Access 1.2, "Buddy System" (19 August 2026) fixed lead and gold nodes that had stopped yielding, corrected atacamite and quartz memory chips, added more carryable racks to early wrecks and human sites, and made acid sources show as green dots on the Scanner HUD. Algae blocks, nutrient blocks, freesia flowers and necrolei cysts appear in the same notes.

Neither release was announced as a resource change, which is the part worth remembering. A spawn list without a date on it describes a build you may not be playing; the one above was checked against 1.2 on 5 September 2026, and the next region will move things again.

Materials this game does not have

A fair share of resource searches for Subnautica 2 are for things that are not in it. The community wiki's raw-material list for the current build runs to twenty-three entries, and diamond, magnetite, nickel, ruby, kyanite and uraninite are not among them.

What stands in their place is a set of names the series has not used before. Atacamite is the copper mineral that gates mid-tier electronics. Celestine is the deep crystal that Root Canyon and the Axum Observatory supply. Troilite is an iron sulphide found in exactly one biome. Axum bacterial culture comes off the machinery still running in the Metal Farms, and conduit crystal, pent and creature enamel fill out the rest.

Organics matter more here than they did in the first game. Acidic raion pouches, medical gel sacs, lucifer rotsacs, water slugs, necrolei cysts, coral shavings and fibrous pulp are all crafting inputs, and most of them sit in the same shallow water as your copper. Deepwing eggs turn up across the Coral Gardens biomes, which is worth knowing before you swim past them for the fourth time.

Häufige Fragen

Where do you find silver in Subnautica 2?

The Plateaus, about 370 m north of the Lifepod at 23 to 119 m, where the cave mouths hold hundreds of nodes. Necrolei Hills and Dolerite Spires have it shallower, and Root Canyon and the Power Plant hold the deep reserves.

Where is lithium in Subnautica 2?

The Graveyard has the most, behind the Mk. 1 depth module, in deposits that need the Sonic Resonator. The nearest source is the Great Jaw at Tufa Towers, about 300 m south at 50 to 90 m, with roughly a dozen deposits inside its mouth.

Is there diamond or magnetite in Subnautica 2?

Neither is in the current build, and nor are nickel, ruby, kyanite or uraninite. Their place at the same tiers is taken by atacamite, celestine and troilite, all three new to the series and all found east of the Coral Gardens.

What is the best biome for titanium in Subnautica 2?

The Plateaus, 23 to 119 m, about 370 m north of the Lifepod: over twelve hundred loose pieces, more than any other biome. Metal salvage also converts into titanium, so shortages are rare after the first hour of a run.

Do resource locations change between Subnautica 2 updates?

Yes. Update 1.1 added silver spawns to the Coral Gardens in July 2026, and 1.2 fixed lead and gold nodes in August. Any spawn list describes one build, so check its date before you plan a long gathering run.

Material locations, densities and gating: the Wand Subnautica 2 resource-locations guide and the Subnautica 2 community wiki at wiki.subnautica.com/sn2, cross-checked against PC Gamer's and Sportskeeda's silver and lithium guides (June to August 2026), all read against the Early Access 1.2 build on 5 September 2026. Biome depth bands come from the same community wiki; distances from the Lifepod from GameWith's survey of 21 July 2026, taken off the in-game coordinate display.
